Sustained pressure on raw materials lead to AdBlue price increase

(2008-09-24) Air1, Yara’s AdBlue brand, announces a price increase across Europe for its AdBlue package, effective from October 1st 2008.

The increase is due to the consistent rise in prices for the raw materials that are used in the manufacture of AdBlue. Urea prices alone have been subject to exceptional increases; doubling over the first nine months of 2008.  High specification urea is the raw material for AdBlue.

John Arne Ulvan, Vice President for Environmental and Speciality Products at Yara, states, "we are in a situation where raw material prices are constantly on the rise. This pressure is not only on us as a primary source producer but also on all the other players in the AdBlue market. It is likely that other providers will also increase their prices. We are confident that our Air1 offer will remain competitive ”.

The increase will be minimised in product delivered in bulk, than in those delivered in other packages such as IBCs.  This is due  to optimisation of our bulk products supply chain via the recent opening of terminals in the UK and Norway and of new loading facilities at our Sluiskil plant.

Details of the new pricing structure are being communicated to customers on a country-by-country basis.
